  • Overview

    The (Paratransit) Assistant Operations Manager will be responsible for all operators, supervisors. and dispatchers assigned to the facility. Provides all services safely and reliably.


    This is for proposed business all offers are contingent upon Transdev's award of the contract. 


    • Supervises daily activities of all operators and coordinates the activities of supervisors and dispatch personnel.
    • Oversees scheduling of operators; monitors operations and coordinates delivery of service with direct reports. Provides a daily reports to the Project Manager.
    • Works closely with the maintenance department to ensure that all operation requirements are met.
    • Track, compile and analyze performance standards  related to On Time Performance, Complaints, Missed Service, and other operational standards as described in the RFP/Contract.
    • Handle interdepartmental issues; assists in the resolution of  employee issues and grievances; improve processes and route scheduling.
    • Makes hiring decisions for authorized roles; works with the Project Manager  and evaluates the work performance of staff; ensures the timely and efficient completion of all assigned tasks.
    • Assists in accident/incident investigation, including any needed on-site assistance and support to safety and training personnel.
    • Works closely with the Maintenance department to ensure adequate availability of equipment.
    • Monitors department budgeted regular and OT hours and reports variances to the Project Manager.
    • Monitors Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
    • May operate a vehicle in revenue service, if necessary.
    • Maintains confidentiality of all information.
    • Work a flexible schedule (possible weekends)
    • Other duties as required.


    Education, Licensing, and Certifications Required:

    • High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, required.

      Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger endorsement and Air brake endorsement required.

    Experience, Skills, and Knowledge Required:

    • 5 years paratransit experience proven record of service excellence, experience in emergency planning, experience in hiring & Traning, and experience scheduling software, exp. supervising dispatch.

    • Demonstrate ability to step in for the Project Manager.
    • Thorough knowledge of basic laws, ordinances and regulations underlying the transit operation.
    • Thorough knowledge of the methods of operation of the transit system’s staff and operational epartments.
    • Trapeze scheduling software experience preferred.
    • Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and relevant database programs.
    • Good written and oral communication skills.
    • Ability to organize and perform work efficiently; strong attention to details.
    • Ability to work effectively with labor; may include labor grievances and negotiations.

     Travel requirement outside of immediate area (as a percent) <5%


    Pre-Employment Requirements:

    • Must be able to maintain a DOT medical card


    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
    • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to manipulate, handle or feel; reach with hands or arms; and talk or hear. Frequently required to sit. Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel crouch or crawl; and smell. Occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds.
    • Up to 30% of the workday is spent outdoors monitoring service on routes, transit facilities, and company locations. Must be able to work in extreme heat and cold and in a damp environment with moderate noise.
    • Remaining work is accomplished in an office or in a cubicle space equipped with a telephone and computer; time is spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer.
