  • Overview

    The MOW Technician is responsible for cleaning; both preventative and corrective maintenance, of the wayside assets, stations, and Maintenance Operations Facility.

    Responsibilities

     

     

    • Services the wayside assets and the Maintenance and Operations Facility per maintenance plans
    • Ensures all preventative and corrective maintenance is performed safely, properly and within the designated time/distance intervals
    • Ensures all maintenance and repair activities are in compliance with OEM requirements, the wayside/facility maintenance programs and associated SOPs
    • Supports the wayside/facility mechanics by providing repairs and servicing as required
    • Ensure equipment/facility availability requirements are met consistently
    • Provides technical support for the entire maintenance team
    • Ensures accurate documentation for data related to safety and training/qualifications of assigned maintenance employees including a qualified employee list
    • Supports the Streetcar Vehicle maintenance working group whenever required
    • Supports the transportation working group with all wayside/facility asset issues
    • Ensure adequate wayside/facility warranty administration and coordination with the OEM and sub-suppliers
    • Ensures adequate consumables and parts are available to support corrective and periodic maintenance of the wayside/facility assets
    • Reports all accidents, incidents, or unusual occurrences and accurately completes all required reporting
    • Other duties as required.

     

     

    Qualifications

     

    Education, Licensing, and Certifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED
    • Class B CDL required
    • Equivalent of a two year degree in related technical field is preferred

     

    Experience:

    • Five years’ experience in transit or a related field (e.g. high voltage electrical, electrical/mechanical, railroad track) is preferred. Equivalence of experience and education will be considered.

     

    Skills and Knowledge Required:

    • Must be able to read and comprehend technical specifications and manuals
    • Must be able to drive and possess a valid State driver’s license in good standing
    • Must be able to pass and maintain a DOT physical examination and random drug screens
    • Must be computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs
    • Must possess the knowledge to use a computer, general office equipment, two-way radios, fleet vehicles and other related shop equipment
    • Beneficial to have familiarity with Asset Management program(s) or other similarly related programs
    • Must have good oral and written communications skills
    • Must be able to work amid constant interruptions, prioritize and deal with time pressures and be able to clearly communicate
    • Must be autonomous, self-directed and possess the ability to handle crisis and conflict situations.

     

    Pre-Employment Requirements:

    • Must successfully pass drug/alcohol testing and criminal background check
    • Must be able to maintain and sustain a DOT medical card
    • Must submit to random drug/alcohol tests and periodic criminal background checks as a safety sensitive employee

     

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules, including weekends as needed
    • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in all types of conditions (e.g. weather, rain, dust, noise, heat, cold, etc.)
    • Must submit to random drug/alcohol tests and periodic criminal background checks as a safety sensitive employee
    • This position requires the wearing of a uniform
    • Job requires standing, bending, stooping, kneeling and walking throughout the shift
    • Must handle parts and equipment ranging from 10 to 50 lbs.
