  • Overview

    The (Streetcar) Safety and Security Manager will be responsible for all of the Transdev’s safety, training, and security responsibilities. This includes all training of operators, any safety  related  meetings,  accident/incident  reporting,  accident/incident  investigation, corrective actions, data collection, and ensuring the security of the system, its equipment, employees, and the public.


    This is for proposed business all offers are contingent upon Transdev's award of the contract.


    • Maintains adequate staffing levels.
    • Responsible for the application of SSO agency requirements and serve as Transdev's Safety Officer.
    • Ensures that staff is adequately trained and understands and executes on safety and security standards.
    • Ensures that all reporting and risk management tools are up-to-date and correct at all times.
    • Ensures contract compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and company regulations; ensures that related record keeping and reporting requirements are met and maintained; provides support in implementing the approved recommendations.
    • Selects, hires, and trains qualified candidates for employment.
    • Maintains confidentiality of all information.

    Other duties as required.



    Education, Licensing, and Certifications Required:

    • High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, plus two years of college or university studies preferred.
    • Must be able to obtain a Transportation Safety Institute Transit Trainer's Certificate.
    • Meet and maintain the qualification and training requirement of the FTA safety certification program provisions required for professionals with direct safety oversight.


    Experience, Skills, and Knowledge Required:

    • 2 to 5 years or more of supervisory experience required, depending on client or contract.
    • Experience with streetcar related FTA and SSO rail safety rules and regulations.
    • Must be competent in and have experience with the application of all streetcar related FTA and SSO rail safety rules/regulations.
    • Familiarity with OSHA and EPA standards, and ADA requirements.
    • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Department of Transportation, and Federal Transportation Administration rules and regulations.
    • Ability to interpret and explain regulations to others.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills; excellent presentation skills.

    Travel requirement (as a percent): <5% for occasional meetings.



    Pre-Employment Requirements:

    • Must submit to drug testing and a criminal background check.


    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
    • 100% of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well ventilated facilities.
    • Work is accomplished in an office or in a cubicle space equipped with a telephone and computer.
    • The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
