    Paint and Body Technician – Lorton, VA

    Salary $32.00 Hourly Rate

     

    The Paint and Body Technician must have the ability to determine which specific parts or pieces of a vehicle that needs to be repaired or replaced. Must have the ability to provide an estimate that will provide accurate information regarding the work that will be required to restore a vehicle. This includes listing each part that must be repaired or replaced, along with the amount of time that it will take to complete the task.

    Responsibilities

    1. Under the guidance of Maintenance Manager, performs acceptance testing and pre-service inspections of new/repaired equipment.
    2. Reads schematics, identifies symbols, uses tools, meters, gauges and other test equipment necessary to repair, and service these systems.
    3. Prepares written reports indicating the corrective action needed.
    4. Disassembles, cleans, inspects and makes repairs to defective body and interior mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
    5. Performs structural repair and re finishing of vehicles and equipment.
    6. Fabricates exterior and interior panels, parts, and assemblies.
    7. Performs repair on fiberglass, metal and plastic panels and assemblies.
    8. Adjusts, repairs, or replaces body hardware, glass, and related parts.
    9. Use the location maintenance information system to prepares work orders to document repair procedures, time and parts used.
    10. Safely operates shop equipment such as lathes, drill presses, grinders, welding machines and other tools within tolerances by following verbal and written instructions.
    11. Follows OSHA, Company and client policies and regulatory guidelines.
    12. Cleans assigned work areas.
    13. Performs other related work.

     

    Qualifications

    Education, Licensing, and Certifications:

    • This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent

     

    Education Preferred:

    • Graduation from a diesel trade school

     

    Experience:

    • Three to five years of recent bus or heavy duty truck repair experience

    • Must be able to lift or handle up to 100 pounds (i.e., strapping in passengers and the loading and unloading passengers, etc.).
    • Exposure to heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job.
    • Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibrations and noise.
    • Must be able to work outside in various weather conditions.
