    Develops contract transit business opportunities, form new business contracts, and help grow the transit business through a U.S. region.

    Responsibilities

    • Develops and implements plans and research projects to improve and expand the organization’s strategic market position and to achieve growth and financial profitability
    • Directs planning, research and analysis of the organization’s business development activities
    • Develops business leads; converts leads into sales
    • Manages and coordinates the Request for Proposal process including but not limited to positioning, proposal management, interview preparation, and pricing/cost structure
    • Contributes to the development and refinement of the company’s vision and strategy; assists in ensuring that the organization maximizes its short-, medium- and long-term profitability
    • Maintains a strong understanding of the competitive market, including private transportation providers; completes competitor market analyses
    • Participates in trade association meetings at the national and state level
    • Responsible for maintaining long term client relationships, both prior to procurement and after

    Other duties as required.

    Qualifications

    Education, Licensing, and Certifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Management, Business, Transportation or related field required

    Experience:

    • 5 or more years of experience in sales and/or business development in a public transit environment

    Skills and Knowledge Required:

    • Ability to manage projects across the business
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
    • Excellent written and oral communications skills
    • Ability to interface with all customer management levels 

    Travel requirement (as a percent): >75% of time

     

    Pre-Employment Requirements:

    • Must submit to a drug test and background check

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
    • 100% of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well ventilated facilities
    • Work is accomplished in an office or in a cubicle space equipped with a telephone and computer.
    • The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
