  • Overview

    The Manager of Human Resources provides advice and consultation to managers, supervisors and employees in the areas of employee and labor relations. In addition to playing a leading role in recruitment, the HR Manager will be heavily involved in performance management; corrective actions, disciplines, and CBA or policy execution in compliance with local, state and federal employment and labor laws. 

    Responsibilities

    • Oversee a lean HR team and ensure the delivery of day to day execution in line with larger strategy by developing and improving existing policies, procedures, and execution
    • Has ownership of reviewing and evolving our existing processes that govern day to day operations with an aim to streamline and improve
    • Design, coordinate and drive initiatives: Recruiting, Learning & Development, Wellness, Benefits, Employee Engagement, and New Hire Onboarding.
    • Take responsibility for Human Resource’s KPIs, from data collection to reporting.
    • Lead investigations, document, and administer any outputs
    • Manages compliance issues; identifies local compliance risks and pro-actively plans to mitigate risk
    • Manages the hiring process, which includes, full life cycle recruiting, HRIS entries, and orientation
    • Serves as the liaison between the unit and the Regional Human Resource Director
    • Serves as liaison between the company and Union
    • Other duties as defined

    Qualifications

    Education, Licensing, and Certifications:

    • High school diploma required
    • Some college coursework in Business, Human Resources, or related field preferred

    Experience Required:

    • 4+ years of HR and/or HR related experience
    • The ability to think strategically and execute operationally
    • Must be willing to transition between Manager and do’er
    • Strong Diagnostic & Decision Quality skills
    • Experience identifying organizational trends and developing HR solutions to improve performance
    • Experience interacting directly with multiple business units/ operations
    • Ability to manage the grey and navigate to a clear and desired outcome 
    • California Employment Law familiarity

    Experience Preferred: 

    • Labor relations experience preferred
    • HRIS, ADP, and investigative experience preferred

    Pre-Employment Requirements:

    • Must submit to a drug testing and background check

     

    Physical Requirements: 

    • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
    • 100% of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well ventilated facilities
    • Work is accomplished in an office or in a cubicle space equipped with a telephone and computer.
    • The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen
