    Responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating and monitoring of all vehicle movements in accordance with contractual obligations and the company policies and procedures.  Communicate clearly, professionally and in a timely manner with company employees.  Represent the company to its customers and the public in a professional and courteous manner.

    Responsibilities

    • Supervises schedules and directs the daily operational activities of bus operators with respect to the movement of vehicles; makes spontaneous decisions; communicates via two-way radio and telephone.
    • Maintains productivity levels and controls overtime by creating efficient runs (run cutting).
    • Directs, evaluates, commends and corrects the work of subordinate personnel with respect to adherence to rules, policies and procedures.
    • Provides bus operators with operational information including detours and exceptions.
    • Assures that all routes are covered by appropriate vehicles, personnel, equipment and information.
    • Maintains accurate records for purposes of billing, payroll, administration, etc.
    • Responds to inquiries regarding general information, employee absence calls, scheduling, etc.
    • Notifies maintenance personnel when vehicles are in need of cleaning, repair or general maintenance.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Essential Knowledge and Skills

    • High school graduate or its equivalent.
    • Ability to read, comprehend and understand contracts, maps, policies and procedures.
    • Possess basic mathematic skills as well as basic computer skills.
    • Two years transportation experience and one year supervisory experience are required; dispatching experience is preferred.
    • Extensive experience with Trapeze Software preferred.
    • Possess organization, communication and interpersonal skills necessary to answer general inquiries and interact with employees, customers and the public.
    • Be competent in the coordination, supervision and counseling of assigned personnel.
    • Possess ability to quickly analyze a situation and provide timely solution(s) and work efficiently under pressure.
    • Must be able to pass an employment physical examination (pre-employment or renewal) including a substance abuse screening.
