    Bus Drivers needed in Hilburn, NY. Starting Salary $18.00/hour 


    Transdev is actively hiring bus drivers for their Fixed Route transit service in Hilburn, NY. We are looking for safe, friendly drivers to help passengers move around throughout location using public transportation.     Operator will operate various types of vehicles assigned to them on scheduled routes to transport passengers to and from designated locations in a safe, customer services-oriented and timely manner. 





    1. Operate vehicles on an assigned route in transporting passengers to and from designated locations in a safe, timely manner. 
    2. Responsible for the proper care for the assigned vehicle and its component parts as prescribed to minimize wear and to extend its useful life.
    3. Operate two-way equipment correctly and according with policy.
    4. Operators are required to inspect each vehicle before and after each trip using correct procedures and complete necessary forms. 
    5. Required to stop at designated stops to allow passengers to board and disembark using safe and responsible procedures.
    6. Responsible for the operation of adaptive transportation lift to board and discharge challenged passengers using safe and responsible procedures.
    7. Must keep the vehicle clean and orderly after each route operated as well as check for lost items.
    8. They must maintain a presentable appearance which includes being properly dressed according to company standards, neat grooming and good hygiene. 
    9. Maintain a cooperative attitude with fellow employees, supervisors, passengers, always promoting company goodwill. 
    10. Control emergency situations in proper manner.
    11. Control vehicle keys, fueling slip receipts, pre-trip and post-trip forms while in possession, and turn in to dispatch as required by your supervisor.
    12. Attend all required in-service training, company required safety meeting and training, and any other required meetings. 
    13. Must be able to comply with all contractual obligations as well as all local, state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to the operation of the vehicle.
    14. Immediately reports every accident, no matter how insignificant the accident may appear.
    15. Accurately maintains proper shift documentation reports, and records.
    16. Follows the correct end-of-shift procedures.
    17. Must adhere to all Company, client, state and federal regulations, policies, and rules.





    Education and Experience:

    • High school diploma required.
    • Two years relevant experience preferred or any equivalent combination of education and job experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully do the job.
    • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
    • Must exhibit proficiency in the English language.
    • Must be able to read a map, possess knowledge of the service area, and be able to pass vision, road, and math, map tests, etc.
    • Must be able to work flexible hours.
    • Must be hospitable, guest/customer service oriented, and be willing to serve the needs of passengers.
    • Must complete and sign a employment application in its entirety.
      • An unjustified refusal to supply requested information of a falsification of information will result in the elimination of the applicant for consideration for employment.
    • Must provide a complete and verifiable employment history.  Employment history must be verified with all employers listed on the application and must include the past 10 years of employment, when applicable.
      • You must sign a FCRA form and complete an Sterling background release form. 

      Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


    • Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving.
    • Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment.
    • Ability to safely drive various vehicles.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors and the general public.
    • Ability to communicate effectively.
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Ability to perform duties under varying weather conditions.
    • Ability to make independent judgments which have moderate impacts on the organization.  

    Licensing and Certification:


    • Must have maintained a valid driver’s license for three years and must possess a current valid driver’s license at the time of application.
    • Must have a complete and certified driving record less than 30 days old. No more than 2 points.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain for the duration of employment a Passenger for Hire Badge, if applicable.
    • Valid CDL license with passenger endorsement and airbrakes for CDL positions.
    • Must present an original Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) issued within the last 30 days and according to company, state and contract requirements.  You must meet the following standards:
      1. No homicide, manslaughter, or assault convictions associated with the operation of a motor vehicle.
      2. No convictions for driving while intoxicated within the past seven (7) years.
      3. No more than two (2) minor moving violations within the past 36 months.
      4. No major moving violations within the past 36 months, including but not limited to:  failure to stop at the scene of an accident, driving with a revoked license, possession of an opened alcoholic container, attempting to elude an officer, etc.
      5. No more than one (1) ticketed at-fault accident within the past 36 months.
      6. Will review the existence of any violations or convictions and may deny employment based on a violation, conviction, or pattern of violations/convictions indicating safety risks.

    Pre-Employment Physical


    • Must undergo a pre-employment drug test and physical by a company appointed physician/facility and receive clearance.
    • Must be willing to undergo random drug testing. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations as sanctioned by the Department of Transportation, may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.



    • 5% of work is accomplished in doors and in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilities.
    • 95% of work is accomplished outside.
    • Performs physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, repetitive hand-wrist motion, and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of passengers and materials. 
    • Must be able to lift or handle up to 100 pounds (i.e., strapping in passengers and the loading and unloading passengers, etc.).
    • Exposure to heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job.
    • Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibrations and noise.
    • Must be able to work outside in various weather conditions.
