  • Overview

    Transdev is seeking a demonstrated leader to join the organization as an Area Vice President(AVP) in the Southwest region. The AVP works with the Regional Vice President to assist in delivering strategic leadership, vision, and ongoing operational support to the Southwest region. 


    • Develops annual operating and business plans and the accompanying financial budget in keeping with the strategic plan
    • Implements and monitors policies, standards, operating procedures, and long-range objectives
    • Strong emphasis on monitoring KPI’s and troubleshooting and coaching at properties as needed to ensure KPI’s and other measures of success are obtained.
    • Provides guidance and leadership to the functional and operations management within the region
      • This includes areas such as labor relations, Operations efficiencies, maintenance, facility oversight, fare-box, ADA, safety/security and other functional areas of transit management.
    • Maintains strong relationships with existing and potential new clients
    • Assists in the development process for new business; shares joint responsibility for growth with the Business Development team
    • Develops and mentor’s high potential employees in the region
    • Helps to recruit new talent to bring into the region to fill needed vacant positions
    • Ensures the highest level of safety compliance across the region

    Education, Licensing, and Certifications Preferred:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Logistics, Transportation or related field preferred.

    Experience Required:

    • 8 or more years of management experience, 5 or more years experience in transportation required

    Experience Preferred:

    • Relevant management experience at a local property level preferred

    Skills and Knowledge Required:

    • Knowledge of relevant federal and state employment laws
    • Knowledge of both fixed route and paratransit management and safety practices associated with the transit industry
    • Thorough knowledge of laws, ordinances and regulations underlying the transit operation
    • Excellent client relationship skills
    • Ability to manage cost control and financial/budget experience across multiple locations
    • Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint programs
    • Strong written and oral communication skills; excellent presentation skills; ability to influence people at all levels of the organization
    • Ability to work effectively with labor; including labor grievances and negotiations

    Travel requirement (as a percent): <50% travel between properties and for meetings and outside training


    Pre-Employment Requirements:

    • Must submit to drug testing and a criminal background check

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
    • 100% of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well ventilated facilities
    • Work is accomplished in an office or in a cubicle space equipped with a telephone and computer.
    • The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
