    The Dispatcher is responsible for managing, monitoring recorded communications and controlling all radio dispatch functions, establishing proper radio control procedures and terminology for dispatchers and drivers and must be capable of properly assigning work shifts to ensure adequate coverage during all revenue service hours to ensure proper operations and safe movement of vehicles.  Position is also responsible for coordinating management of on-street operations with all key personnel, establishing professional and respectful communications protocols between dispatchers and drivers, promoting professionalism and cooperative working relationships between drivers, dispatchers and all control center personnel and other operations personnel; establishes industry accepted emergency radio call handling procedures, monitors all radio traffic and MDC and IVR communications and messages for adherence to proper operating guideline and policies.  Must be capable of generating meaningful dispatch reports based on tracking logs, recorded communications and ensures that all dispatchers record via Trapeze all particular and specific trip related events for optimum management of service; works with administrative personnel on resolution of rider complaints and coordinates activities with QA coordinator, Planning Administrator and Call Center Supervisor to ensure smooth operations of all Control Center functions.



    • Desired skills/knowledge includes:
    • Two-way radio operations experience
    • Knowledge of 10-codes and professional radio communications techniques
    • Ability and experience managing and supervising a radio dispatch operation
    • Experience developing radio control training modules
    • Experience with monitoring radio communications, live or recorded, and noting areas of needed improvement and coaching staff on techniques


    Experience/Educational Requirements:     

    • A high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) with some college preferred. 
    • Experience developing and writing radio dispatching and/or call handling procedures required. 
    • Experience in any kind of radio dispatching supervisory capacity also required. 
    • At least two years college experience also preferred. 
    • Experience in lead, supervisory or coaching position in a transportation environment also preferred.


    Work Environment:

    Ninety-five percent (95%) of the work performed in the capacity of this position is in a professional office environment that is clean, well lit, and in compliance with the ADA’s Architectural Standards.  Minimal lifting is required and never any more than twenty-five (25) pounds.  The remaining five percent (5%) level of work may be performed off-site but never in unsafe or hazardous surroundings.  The office is environmentally friendly and neither smoking nor artificial scents are permitted in the work environment.


    Work Schedule:

    Position is full-time, at least five days per week overseeing a 24/7 radio control/dispatch operation.  Requires flexibility in working days and hours including working non-traditional business hours such as early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
