  • Overview

    This position is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of 43 buses in Rockland County. The Transportation Manager also monitors the operation to ensure that employees comply with company safety and operating rules, policies, procedures, union agreements and governmental regulations.


    • Ensuring all operational performance goals are met.
    • Effective operations design, system scheduling, and management.
    • Effective quality assurance.
    • Providing the highest quality passenger and resident service.
    • Preventing and mitigating service delays, interruptions, and accidents.
    • Complete data collection, compilation, analysis, and reporting.
    • Managing compliance with FTA and other federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
    • Knowledge, preparedness, and professionalism of all operating personnel.
    • Professional and effective response to comments from passengers and the general public.
    • Expertise and technical proficiency to assist with route and schedule planning and optimization.
    • Responding to specific requests for other assistance as the need arises.
    • Attending local and regional meetings at the County's request.



    Education, Licensing, and Certifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Logistics, Transportation or related field required.


    Experience, Skills, and Knowledge Required:

    • 5 years in a Transportation Manager position.
    • 3 years in a Transportation Manager level managing a transit property/operation of similar size and scope.
    • Must have basic skills in MS Office suite including Outlook.
    • Must possess excellent verbal and written skills and be able communicate successfully with a variety of disciplines and levels both internally and externally.
