  • Overview

    Our B2B business also known as Compass Transportation has become one of the largest B2B transportation providers in the Bay Area over the past ten years. In the upcoming year we will be offering a new electric zero emissions solution as well as an on-demand solution to complement our commuter offering. As a result, we are looking for someone who has the ability to manage and improve our existing operations and develop new processes to help support our new service lines.


    As the Director of Performance, you will be expected to respond to new challenges as our company grows and evolves. You will need to be constantly on the lookout for ways in which we can improve our business, motivate your team to implement operational improvements, implement policies that drive efficiency and make data driven decision.


    • Design, implement, and monitor new policies and practices to drive KPI’s. We are constantly looking for external ideas on how we can involve and improve; we want you to drive this.
    • Metric focused - numbers don’t lie and you will need to hit yours time and time again. You analyze the trends and make data driven decisions to find solutions. You will be asked to lead the ‘datafication’ of the company.
    • Customer experience – We are looking for someone who can create and monitor qualitative metrics for our performance.
    • Manage day to day operations - the transportation industry operates 24/7 365 days a year, it’s not for the faint of heart and requires great time management and organization
    • Feed into strategy for product development and help decide the business direction
    • Provides general guidance to location staff
    • Provides strategic planning and direction to the operation
    • Ensures contract compliance
    • Has shared responsibility for scheduling, performance evaluation, and staffing responsibilities for the staff of the facility
    • Other duties as required.


    Education, Licensing, and Certifications:

    • Preference for a degree in Business Management, Economics, or Finance


    • 5 or more years of transportation, management/supervisory experience required
    • Labor relations experience
    • Experience as a manager or working alongside management

    Skills and Knowledge Required:

    • Experience as a manager or working alongside management
    • LEAN Management experience ideal
    • Knowledge of relevant federal and state employment laws
    • Thorough knowledge of laws, ordinances and regulations underlying the B2B operation
    • Experience with Automatic Vehicle Locators (AVL); Trip Shot, Double Map, Nomad, Veolia Shadow and Nextraq
    • Thorough knowledge of the methods of operation of the B2B system’s staff and operational departments
    • Ability to deal with state and local government
    • Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint programs
    • Ability to organize and perform work efficiently; strong attention to details
    • Ability to work effectively with labor; including labor grievances and negotiations

    Travel requirement: <15% travel between properties and for meetings and outside training


    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
    • 100% of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilities
    • Work is accomplished in an office or in a cubicle space equipped with a telephone and computer.
    • The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
