  • Overview

    The Learning & Development Manager will oversee the assessment, development, implementation, and delivery of all training.  The role will be required to manage training plans that link to business needs and to build partnerships with both internal subject matter experts and vendors to deliver a learning approach that is both efficient and cost effective.  The business case and budget management for execution of existing curriculum and new programs will be led by the manager. 


    The incumbent will oversee the execution and delivery of training plans, leveraging existing programs, developing and implementing a systematic approach to new program design, balancing eLearning, classroom delivery, and mentoring.


    • Partner with business leaders and the Director, Learning & Talent Management to determine needs and deliver programs, processes and tools that develop talent to address the needs.  It will be critical to bring efficient delivery methods to the business to maximize the limited budget.
    • Partner with division subject matter experts to ensure that programs are business-specific, technically sound, and offer the processes and tools to offer learners the information they need to manage our business and be aligned with objectives and values.
    • Assist with setting the overall learning strategy and develop/deploy the corresponding learning curriculum for each division and all levels of employees.
    • Oversee the implementation of an evaluation and metrics strategy, along with necessary tracking of learning, progression and cost.
    • Partner with learning and design professionals to develop and facilitate the division training and development strategies and curriculum.
    • Facilitate training courses.
    • Manage and develop a team of learning and development professionals.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Jointly determine whether we build or buy industry specific learning programs and manage all efforts to do so.
    • Coordinate with all business divisions on common courses.
    • Effectively manage vendor relationships to ensure delivery of quality services.
    • Coordinate with parent-company functional resources, as necessary.
    • Identify content options for inclusion on company LMS.


    Education, License, and Certifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Learning, Human Resources or related field is required.  CPLP® a plus.


    Experience Required:

    • 7+ years of experience with a concentration in adult learning in a business environment.
    • Minimum of 3 years experience managing a learning team. 
    • Experience managing a virtual team a plus.


    Skills and Knowledge Required:

    • Demonstrated ability to operationalize training best practices. 
    • Proven consultation and facilitation skills are required. 
    • Demonstrated expertise in building effective relationships.
    • Proven assessment skills in order to determine the critical organizational needs.
    • Ability to articulate financial benefits and value-added metrics to learning and development solutions.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and professional speaking skills. 
    • Skilled in analysis and assessing program effectiveness with strong financial comprehension.
    • Demonstrated ability in leadership and teambuilding
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to consult.
    • Project management expertise.
    • Exposure to and knowledge of needs assessment, curriculum design, and eLearning.
    • Adept at facilitation and training delivery.
    • Routine domestic travel required up to 20%.
