    Responsibilities

     

    The Transportation Safety Manager provides safety and training oversight for various company client accounts to include and not limited to the following:

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Provides accident investigation.
    2. Oversees SmartDrive activities.
    3. Ensures that new and current staff is adequately trained and understands and executes on safety and security standards.
    4. Ensures compliance with all company, client, and Department of Transportation (dot) regulations, policies, and procedures.
    5. Ensures that all reporting is updated, accurate, and correct at all times.
    6. Ensures contract compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and company regulations; ensures that related record keeping and reporting requirements are met and maintained; provides support in implementing the approved recommendations.
    7. Oversees monthly safety meetings.
    8. Works with Account Manager to ensure contract scope of work requirements’ are being met.
    9. Ongoing on board evaluations and trail checks.
    10. Evaluates routing for safety and efficiency.
    11. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Safety and Training.
    12. Route (driving) coverage as needed on a consistent basis.
    13. Attends client meetings at the clientele locations regularly and as needed.

     

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS.

    1. Required to have a valid and current California Commercial Driver License (Class A/B) with both air brakes and passenger endorsements.
    2. Three (3) to five (5) years of safety experience within the transportation industry.
    3. Management/supervisory and leadership experience highly desirable.
    4. Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
    5. Required proficiency and literacy in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and the competency to develop documents, reports, spreadsheets, and presentations.

    Pre-Employment Requirements:

    • You must be able to pass a drug test and a criminal background check.

     

    Physical Requirements:

    • 70% of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well ventilated facilities.
    • 30% of work is accomplished outside or in a vehicle.
    • Performs physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, repetitive hand-wrist motion, and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of passengers and materials
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibrations
    • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
    • Must be able to operate the company vehicle without the use of DOT prohibited adaptations
