Overview

The utility worker must be able to perform basis shop duties. They must also be able to perform detail cleaning and fueling of equipment with limited supervision. Additionally, the utility worker must be able to complete basic forms and fare box duties (i.e., pulling and replacement, diagnostic, repair, installation). Finally, they must possess a valid CDL license with air brakes and passenger endorsement and are required to work shifts.

Responsibilities

  1. Responsible and accountable for maintaining service and repair of cash revenue fare boxes for vehicles at the facility.
  2. Responsible for moving or positioning a variety of equipment.
  3. Will perform basic troubleshooting of two way radio units.
  4. Will be responsible for the auto fleet PMI program.
  5. Responsible for basic shop and housekeeping duties.
  6. Responsible for picking up and delivering parts and materials.
  7. Will be responsible for completing required forms for entry into computer system.
  8. Other duties as assigned for the efficient operation of the facility.

 

Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  2. 1-2 years basic mechanic experience.
  3. Knowledge of shop safety standards.
  4. Knowledge of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Regulations.
  5. Must have a good understanding of electrical functions.
  6. Must be well organized.
  7. Must be able to read and write English.
  8. Must possess a CDL with airbrakes.
  9. Must be self motivated and able to perform without constant or immediate supervision.
  10. Must be able to work flexible hours or shifts.
  11. Ability to work as a team.
  12. Must be PC literate.The physical demands described here are representatives of those that must be met by the employee to successful perform the essential functions of this job. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • 10% of work is accomplished in doors and in air conditioned or well ventilated facilities.
  • 90% of work is accomplished open garage facility.
  • Performs physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, repetitive hand-wrist motion, and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
