The principal function of the Network Administrator/IT Specialist will be to oversee the accessibility and use of Transit application systems and related hardware and software, IT equipment install and activation, and manage location IT help-desk activities.





  • Responsible for first level of determination of hardware problems
  • Analyze and solve daily network voice and data communication problems
  • Review and approve all security procedures for Network
  • Coordinate with operations, administration and maintenance implementation of all hardware and software
  • Follow all policies and procedures implemented by the IT department
  • Perform diagnostics to determine network problems

Other duties as required.


Education, Licensing, and Certifications Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Science, or experience and training to the equivalent.

Experience Required:

  • Three (3) or more years of recent (within the past five years) experience supporting applications, network, server, and desktops

 Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Software proficiency with operating systems
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow written instructions and manuals
  • Good written and oral communication skills


Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Must submit to a drug test and background check

Physical Requirements:

  • Some lifting of computer equipment and related supplies necessary

  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed
  • 100% of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well ventilated facilities
  • Work is accomplished in an office or in a cubicle space equipped with a telephone and computer
  • The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen
