The Operations Manager/Assistant General Manager supports the General Manager in directing this paratransit operations.  This excellent opportunity comes at a perfect time with a new facility, new vehicles and new technology all being introduced during the upcoming year.  This position offers direct involvement in these special projects as well as providing long term local and national career growth potential. 


The primary responsibilities of the position is to directly oversee the day to day operations with close coordination with Safety, Maintenance, Human Resources and Call Center departments.   The office site for this position is in Brisbane, Ca.


  • Provides direction and support to the day to day operations of the San Francisco Paratransit operations system to ensure attainment of the Transdev and client goals and objectives within established policies and parameters
  • Coordinates activities within the project to assure peak performance and productivity, as well as conformance with established or mandated external regulations and policies effecting Company operations
  • Monitors operating performance, facilitates problem resolution, and directs efforts to achieve continual improvement in service quality
  • Works in cooperation with other managers and supervisors to provide seamless, high quality service to Transdev customers
  • Oversees and provides timely response and services to all community concerns regarding Transdev bus operations
  • Works cooperatively with departmental managers
  • Supervises subordinate staff
  • Embraces Transdev's safety vision; approves and adopts the company’s safety rules, policies, and procedures; communicates safety expectations; and maintains accountability for the safety performance of the entire agency
  • Complies with all of Transdev's safety rules, policies, and procedures

Education, Licensing, and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Transportation Planning, Logistics, Transportation or related field preferred.


  • 3 or more years of supervisory or management level experience in the passenger transportation industry
  • Comprehensive experience with Trapeze programs desired


Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Knowledge of relevant federal and state employment laws
  • Thorough knowledge of laws, ordinances and regulations underlying the transit operation
  • Thorough knowledge of the methods of operation of the transit system’s staff and operational departments
  • Working knowledge and proficiency with Trapeze, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint programs
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; excellent presentation skills; ability to influence people at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to organize and perform work efficiently; strong attention to details
  • Ability to work effectively with labor; including labor grievances and negotiations; with knowledge of consistent application of progressive corrective actions

Travel requirement (as a percent): <5% travel between properties and for meetings and outside training


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
  • 75% of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well ventilated facilities; the remainder of time would be outdoors or on the system’s vehicles
  • Work is generally accomplished in an office or in a cubicle space equipped with a telephone and computer.
  • The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
