The position of IT Specialist provides technical assistance in all areas of IT Infrastructure operations by handling help desk calls, tape backup maintenance, mobile and LAN phones, PC desktop / printer support, application support, Network ID/Password support and all other helpdesk required tasks.  Resolves or assists in problems encountered by system users and desktop applications. In addition, the IT Specialist maintains all computers and servers and monitors the related application programs and office programs. This position will work closely with the Network and Support Administrator to address all support related issues and provide recommendations for procedures or technology to enhance the monitoring and support. This position will assist with bus technology as assigned.  



Provides Help Desk Support to end user

  • Help Desk Support for Desktop related issues.
  • Help Desk escalation on non-local issues to corporate.
  • Provide Help Desk Support for Printer and other Peripherals.
  • Provide Help Desk support for LAN Phone issues.
  • Provide Help Desk support for cellular phone issues.
  • Password Reset.
  • Follow-up with end user on tickets opened


Desktop and software for end user

    • Install Desktops and related software for end user.
    • Install Printers and other peripherals.
    • Create update desktop image based on local policy
    • Assist Network Admin or Technology Manager on LAN/WAN and Server Support.
    • Maintain and update local asset inventory as per policy.
    • Change off site tape backup as per policy.


Bus Technology

  • Assist Bus Technology Manager with repair, replacement and troubleshooting of bus technology systems such as bus analysis laptops and software, destination signs, Para Transit MDT, SmartDrive and other duties as assigned.

Assist Bus Technology Manager and research new technologies                                                                                                  20%

Assist Network Administrator and Technology Manager                                                                                                       10%





  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in MIS, computer science or related field or work experience equivalent to an Associate's or Bachelor’s degree required
  • MCP required, MCSE a plus
  • Four (4) years of progressive experience in hardware and software maintenance for PC workstations, printers and copiers, tape backup in a medium to large IT support group
  • Available to be on call 24/7 to assist in computer and network emergency situations
  • Must be able to write system documentation for new and existing programs
  • Ability to effectively help coordinate and manage system-wide computer interfaces a plus
  • Must have the ability to prioritize and deal with time pressures and daily system problems
  • Ability and willingness to learn applications and provide support
  • Ability to support mobile phones
  • Ability to support LAN phone technology
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong time management skills
