Responsibilities

  • Works a split shift during AM/PM peaks (5AM - 8AM & 130PM - 630PM)
  • Assist the dispatcher with Automated Vehicle Location tools, 100% dedicated to AVL systems (RM and Avail)
  • Send out timely Text/Mobile Alerts to GRTA, GCT and internal stakeholders
  • Update RM and Avail as the operation progresses (Split routes, change operator information, logins)
  • Correct AM Exceptions/and PM exceptions before end of shift
  • Enter the RM schedule for the following day
  • Monitor AVL - buses off route, late, early - communicate directly with the dispatcher
  • Monitor the "Log-Off" screen in RM and avail when Operators begin pulling back in
  • Answer the GRTA Emergency phone
  • When Operators call into dispatch for their 10-10/10-11, AVL Coordinator is to check and ensure the bus in logged in before leaving the yard
  • Pull reports from AVL systems

Qualifications

Education, Licensing, and Certifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, such as GED, required

Experience:

  • Experience working in a central control environment for a large public transit agency, with emphasis on GPS tracking and data management software

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Knowledge of data collection, analysis and reporting
  • Critical thinking and on the spot decision making
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with others

Physical Requirements:

  • Work in all types of weather conditions 
  • The employee may be required to work after normal business hours 
  • Nature of work requires working in a confined and highly stressful environment; sitting for extended periods of time; constantly viewing display monitors; and working weekends, nights, and holidays when needed.
