The General Manager is responsible for a Transdev B2B business unit at Compass Transportation and has operations and other departments reporting into this position on a daily basis. This position is also accountable for the delivery of business unit financial budget. The organization provides end to end customer solutions to over 13 Fortune 100 and 500 clients in the San Francisco Bay Area with 4 locations, 290+ employees, and over 200 vehicles.

 

 

 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for determining and delivering business unit company budget, and forecast

  • Setting the commercial and operational strategic direction for the company team and leading the team to deliver the best in class solutions.

  • Responsible for identifying, supporting, and developing business growth opportunities from existing customers. Close working relationship with Technology Software development team will be required to ensure strong alignment between customer requirements and software development roadmap.

  • Responsible for optimizing the return on assets deployed within the business to include vehicle scheduling, maintenance and performance management.

  • Ensuring compliance with State and Federal regulation and compliance with Transdev corporate safety standards.

  • Develop relationships and identify new opportunities with external customers and provide relevant support for solutions

  • Responsible for all staff management and development and training in liaison with the corporate team as appropriate. Provide leadership and guidance to existing staff in a competitive environment, and effectively attract new talent as needed

     

  • Other duties as required.

 

Qualifications

 

Education, Licensing, and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Logistics, Transportation or related field required.

 

Experience:

  • 5 or more years of relevant transit management experience required
  • 5 or more years management/supervisory experience required
  • Labor relations experience
  • Business development experience preferred

 

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Knowledge of relevant federal and state employment laws regarding passenger transportation
  • Thorough knowledge of laws, ordinances and regulations underlying the transportation service operation
  • Thorough knowledge of the methods of operation of the transportation system’s staff and operational departments
  • Ability to partner with external clients and provide relevant solutions
  • Ability to manage cost control and financial/budget experience handling multiple locations, while preserving the customer experience
  • Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint programs, Adobe, Apple, and other software solutions as needed
  • Understanding of technology, apps, wifi, and understanding of transportation technology to keep solutions provided to clients relevant and fresh
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; excellent presentation skills; ability to influence people at all levels of an organization
  • Ability to organize and perform work efficiently; strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively with labor; including labor grievances and negotiations, while preserving a healthy relationship that delivers a focused customer experience.
  • An enterprising or entrepreneurial background is preferred to assist with leading a company servicing the evolving needs of customers

  • Must be able to lead in a fast paced, evolving, and competitive environment

Travel requirement outside of immediate San Francisco/.San Jose area (as a percent) <5%

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
  • 100% of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well ventilated facilities
  • Work is accomplished in an office or in a cubicle space equipped with a telephone and computer.
  • The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
